Always turning
16.11.24 — 03.01.25

Galleria Doris Ghetta
Milano, Italy

The exhibition showcases a selection of recent works that focus on processes of fluidity and transformation, exploring the interstitial spaces where mutations and hybridizations occur, and where ambiguous forms acquire their own vitality, poised between the cold sharpness of metal and the soft sensuality of flesh.

Another Self
24.10 — 22.11.24

Night Café
London, UK

Self-perception is an elusive and ever-changing construct. The idea that one’s sense of self is not something fixed and stable, but rather a constantly shifting reflection of cultural narratives, societal expectations, and, increasingly, our interactions with technology, is widely accepted. This state of flux, however, introduces a tension: how does this fleeting, constantly evolving nature of self-perception shape how we view ourselves, moment to moment.

Do Cyborgs Dream Of Electric Sheep
27.04. — 25.05.24

Studio Hannibal
Berlin, Germany

The History of our culture could be written following the tension between knowledge and belief, science and faith, the amount oftrust we place on tradition and the amount we place on innovation.
We can not know how other species with big brains, clearlysentient beings such as other primates or large mammals likewhales, perceive and to some extent explain the many phenomena of the world to themselves. Though more and morescientists begin to ascribe characteristics to chimpanzees and whales that we believed were exclusive to us, such as culture and language, the West still places human beings on the top of the pyramid.

Is Not Made of Mud and Cannot Return to Dust

13.01. — 31.03.24

Brownie Projects
Shanghai, China

Using tension, Bosisio looks at alternate ways of interpreting the relationship between himself and objects and explores different possibilities and existences within its own world. In J. G. Ballard’s 1973 novel Crash, the automotive vehicle becomes the object of desire for its hero characters and in turn marks their demise. Bosisio takes smooth, mirror-like materials, transforming them into the deformed surfaces, destroyed in an imaginary accident and salvaged, cracked, scratched. Automobiles themselves were once the symbol of futurism, and reflected our own societal pursuit of perfection, becoming the connectivity between mankind and technology, an industry which fueled both capitalism and culture. Bosisio turns this destruction into an object of desire and seduction. Symbolically, the materials themselves no longer symbolise the contemporary world and in turn, they become a reminder of our own despair and self destruction. Like Harraway’s cyborgs, we must detach or de- stroy to evolve.

Outside of History

06.10. — 05.11.23

Who Gallery
London, UK

"Outside of History” is an attempt to conceptualise a timeline of consumption, past and present, through desire, objectivity in all its facets, clothing, nourishment, materialisation, eroticism, human behaviour - both sadistic and hedonistic - and how this is interwoven into the fabric of our existence. Artists are invited to explore the philosophical foundations behind the human inclination to seek pleasure and avoid pain, how this continuous pursuit is deeply ingrained in our nature. From hedonism to utilitarianism, existentialism to psychology, various perspectives shed light on the motivations behind this inclination. Whether driven by the pursuit of intrinsic good, the desire for happiness, the quest for meaning, or the fulfilment of needs, humans continually navigate the delicate balance between pleasure and pain.

The Consolation of Clinamen

15.07. — 26.08.23

Tabulerasa
London, UK

The exhibition presents a compelling exploration of "swerve" in contemporary art, drawing from the philosophical insights of Michel Foucault and Deleuze. Through the works of artists such as Ana Benavides, C. Lucy R. Whitehead, Kolja Kärtner Sainz, Johannes Bosisio, Eva Yi Zhang, Cheri Smith, and Tianyue Zhong, the concept of swerve manifests as a deliberate deviation from conventional norms. These artists manipulate materials and narratives to disrupt expected interpretations, blurring the distinction between figuration and abstraction. By challenging viewers to reconsider established notions of art and perception, the exhibition invites an engagement that goes beyond mere observation, encouraging a deeper exploration of the complexities

This exhibition explores vulnerability, beauty, and introspection through a dialogue between Sang Woo Kim, an artist born in Korea and raised in London, and Johannes Bosisio, an artist born in Cavalese, Italy, and based in London. They touch on the social pressures for productivity and success in a capitalist society, the complexity of human emotions, and the role art plays in promoting empathy and understanding in such a difficult world to live in. Through their shared emphasis on vulnerability and authenticity, Sun Woo and Johannes remind us of the importance of connection and empathy in a world that often feels disconnected and divided. They also present their belief that by influencing the way viewers perceive the world through their work, they can see the world with a very different clarity.

Welcome to my Melancholy
with Sang Woo Kim

03.06. — 09.07.23

Supermarkt Gallery

Slides

10.02. — 14.03.23

Wonespace
Shenzhen, China

At the start of 2023, W.ONESPACE is honored to present “Slides,” the trio exhibition of artists Chen Guobao, Johannes Bosisio and Yu Feier, to reveal their understanding and interpretation of "objects" through different perspectives in recent years. In as globalized context, three emerging artists bring their own reflections to explore everyday objects that are mundane but worth revisiting, industrial objects that are fragmented but with future cybernetic implications, and poetic objects that gather spiritual thoughts under the influence of classical aesthetics.

Detox Retox

03.12.22 —14.01.23

Kali Gallery
Luzern, Switzerland

The group exhibition DETOX RETOX is dedicated to contemporary painting and, as the title suggests, addresses contrasts and the rapid upheaval of realities. KALI Gallery presents Johannes Bosisio , Mattania Bösiger, Simone Filippo, Maksim Klopfstein, Jason Rohr and Jakub Tytykalo. DETOX RETOX is a play on words, which on the one hand speaks of a strong change in our consciousness and body due to the action of substances, and on the other hand of a completely natural state. The same is true for art, when not only the artist but also the viewer reaches certain limits and overcomes himself to create the most subtle connection.

Souls from Objects from Souls from Objects from Soul

19.11. — 15.12.22

Zerui Gallery
London

Since the inception of computing, references to the human brain have been used to analogise the core elements of technological machines. Starting as simple metaphors to make advances accessible to the non-technological, neuroscience is now a core touchpoint within the progression of information technology, machine learning and AI. And whilst this blurring between human physicality and machine object has become everyday, less so is an extrapolation of this of corporal comparison to our anatomy from the head down. It’s accepted that machines may have brains, but subversive to consider whether they might have flesh.

My Mother was a Computer,

10.10. — 19.11.22

Indigo+Matter
London

Indigo+Madder is thrilled to present My Mother Was a Computer, a group exhibition bringing together works by eight London-based artists to explore notions of agency, subjectivity, and representation through a machinic lens. The show borrows its title from a book of the same name by N. Katherine Hayles, which examines how the lines that once separated analogue from digital, old from new technologies, and humans from machines have become blurred. Within this context, the exhibition considers the complex transactions, entanglements, and exchanges that take place within human and non-human assemblages, and who and what is produced by them.

SHARP HYBRID CRASH

22.09. — 15.11.22

Galleria Doris Ghetta
Ortisei, Italy

Sharp Hybrid Crash presents the research of Johannes Bosisio, who through a series of paintings on canvas and sculptural installations celebrates transformation, freedom, desire and hybridization. In his work, organic bodies join with technological prostheses and together create new entities from the chrome surface - once smooth and shiny, now scratched, rough and alive.

Group show

04.02. — 05.03.22

104 Gallery
Tokyo

Leasing Vol. 1

16.06. — 07.07.21

Autohaus
Kassel, Germany

For every action, there is a reaction. For every cause, there is an effect. For every beginning, there is an end. Because, once fate is set in motion, it cannot be stopped or can it? (Final Destination 2)

Practices for Responsiveness

20.05. — 27.08.21

Galleria Doris Ghetta
Ortisei, Italy

Galleria Doris Ghetta is delighted to present Practices For Responsiveness, a collective exhibition that explores the relationship between artists and the reality in which they operate, with special attention to their ability to react and respond to the concerns of the age they live in. On show are the works of Michele Bernardi, Viola Bittl, Johannes Bosisio, Leonardo Silaghi and Hugo Vallazza, five artists from different generations and different geographical and cultural contexts who respond to the stimuli of external reality – be it physical and material or a theoretical space of artistic representation – with practices grounded in the way they listen to their own interior landscapes.

Und das Ist auch gut so

09.04. — 10.07.21

Galerie Judith Andrea
Bonn, Germany
